As Saudi Arabia and France approach the centennial of their diplomatic relationship in 2026, the two nations are strengthening their strategic partnership. French Ambassador Patrick Maisonnave highlighted the substantial growth in bilateral relations, which have expanded to encompass a wide array of sectors in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030. This forward-looking plan aims to diversify the Saudi economy and reduce its dependency on oil by promoting various industries.
The scope of the Saudi-French partnership now includes significant areas such as culture, tourism, artificial intelligence, technology, energy, healthcare, defense, education, and urban development. One of the most notable collaborations is the AlUla development project, which stands as a prime example of their joint efforts. Additionally, both countries are making strides in digital innovation, entertainment, and esports, further emphasizing the dynamic nature of their relationship.
Beyond economic and developmental cooperation, France and Saudi Arabia are also actively engaged in regional affairs. They work closely on critical issues such as ensuring security in the Gulf region, maintaining freedom of navigation in the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz, and supporting the two-state solution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Moreover, their coordination extends to promoting stability in Lebanon and contributing to the reconstruction efforts in Syria.
Both nations have reiterated their dedication to diplomacy and adherence to international law as mechanisms for fostering peace and stability in the Middle East. Through ongoing dialogue and collaboration, Saudi Arabia and France continue to seek political solutions to address regional challenges, underscoring their commitment to a peaceful and stable future.
